Sittingbourne Retail Park

The works at Sittingbourne Retail Park involved alterations and refurbishment works to two existing retail units.

We had to strip out the existing fit out materials and structures and then carried out internal piling works for the new structural mezzanine floor. We also repaired the shelf of the structure to make sure it was totally windproof and watertight.

A new dividing wall was installed and internal partitions were also added.   We carried out the relevant drainage works and incorporated the necessary incoming services. 

The toilet, Staff Room and Office were all fitted out to a high standard and we made amendments to the entrance screens.

Our works also comprised of Fire Protection Works.

Additional works for this project included replacing the existing roof lights.

Additional plastering, tape and joining works were carried out due to a change in specification from block work to plasterboard.  

Further piling works and steel re-enforcement were also undertaken due to an increase in the depth required, this also led to further excavation works due to the additional piling works.

This project proved challenging as logistically if was very difficult to manage as the works were on a retail park that was being used by the public and other retail units.  All deliveries were orchestrated in and around the other units’ schedules.

This project was under the Considerate Constructors Scheme where we achieved a ‘Very Good’ Score of 35.
