About the Role

Your apprenticeship is made up of learning on the job, but also gaining the academic skills to put into practice in your day-to-day job.

All modules are taught by a combination of lectures and small group sessions, which include seminars, group practical's, problem sets, debates and role-play. Assessments are varied and reflect the module outcomes. There are both written and practical assignments, opportunities to work on innovative project work. Some modules are assessed through examinations. Coursework tasks can include individual and group projects, presentations, critical reviews and portfolios, as well as conventional analytical essays.

Starting in September, you’ll join as an Apprentice Assistant Site Manager, giving you hands-on experience from day one whilst attending either Mid Kent College, Maidstone or East Kent College, Ashford on a day release programme.

You will work in a supported learning environment to develop the skills and knowledge for an Apprentice Site Manager, whilst completing a HNC in Construction.

Reporting to the Project Manager, you’ll assist in leading the development of the site through to completion; coordinating trades, directing labour and materials, whilst meeting a highly challenging schedule on time, within budget, with a focus on quality and clients, ensuring high standards of Health & Safety on site.

Requirements

We're looking for enthusiastic and determined applicants who can work both independently and in a team. You will have an analytical mind and an interest in the construction industry, together with strong communication skills and the enthusiasm to learn and develop.


Entry requirements:


  • Two A Levels at grades CC or above, including one in a relevant subject (e.g. Maths or a Science subject)

  • A BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in a relevant subject at grade MPP or above

  • A BTEC Level 3 Diploma in a relevant subject at grade MM or above


Equivalent qualifications will also be considered. In addition, applicants must be employed in a position in the construction industry on entry to the programme.


Mature applicants (those aged 21 or over at the start of the course) who do not hold one of these qualifications but who possess a suitable level of relevant industry experience and/or qualifications are welcomed and will be considered on an individual basis.
