Control of Waste Policy
It is the policy of the Company to ensure that it’s undertakings comply with the current legislation and are accomplished in such a way as to ensure the requirements under the Duty of Care for the control of waste produced by the company are satisfied.
This policy will be reviewed annually, when circumstances indicate a change is needed or when legislation is introduced that necessitates change.
The implementation of this policy is the responsibility of all employees.
It is our policy to prevent waste arising wherever practicable but where unavoidable to control waste that is produced and to arrange for this waste to be processed in order to minimise the amount to be transferred to landfill. The decision making process will consider the Government policy and strategy for waste management regarding moving up the waste hierarchy which is:
- Waste reduction
- Reuse
- Recycling and composting
- Energy recovery
- Disposal
This policy will be achieved by:-
- Assessing the amount and type of waste that will be produced.
- Establish an effective means of segregation, where practical.
- Arranging for waste to be recycled or reprocessed whenever practical.
- Producing Waste Management plans when applicable.
- Train employees to manage waste responsibly.
- Encourage our suppliers and subcontractors to support us in achieving the successful implementation of this policy.
The policy has also been produced as a separate document and is on public display.
